Hi, I'm Allen Higgins and this is Design Talk. I started this podcast for my students and for people I meet who care about tinkering and making things - making digital things in particular. I contend that we are all, in some way, involved in designing. So, this is my attempt to dig into the essence of design, discovering the backstory to designs, unpacking the impact of design on organisations and industries, and understanding the wider impact of a design attitude on management and strategy.
This pod has a broad remit: philosophy of technology, designing organisations, interaction design, science and technology studies, history of software, augmented software engineering, the tech of fintech, design thinking, research design, outsourcing, tech consulting, game design, universal design, standardisation, tech strategy and more. Due to my slow edit/publish process episodes are posted whenever they're ready.
The project continues to grow. I explore new themes and topics as my own teaching evolves, as the industry changes, and as I discover more stories that demand to be shared.
